Pressure testing will be available for checking water-resistance ratings after strap changes, ownership changes, or before vacations and daily wear. As always, this service will use equipment appropriate for warranty-safe diagnostics only.

Mechanical Watch Demagnetization

Magnetism is one of the most common causes of sudden timing issues in mechanical watches and fortunately, one of the easiest to fix.

Local collectors in the Albuquerque area are welcome to contact JC Fine Watches to have their watch checked for magnetization and demagnetized on the spot if needed. The process takes just a few seconds and is completely safe for the movement.

Signs Your Watch May Be Magnetized

You might notice one or more of the following:

  • Running unusually fast, often +30 seconds to several minutes per day

  • Inconsistent timing — normal one day, wildly off the next

  • Stuck or “twitchy” seconds hand on certain movements

  • Accuracy changes after being near electronics (laptops, speakers, phone cases with magnets, handbags with magnetic clasps)
